Whether the bad press red meat has had recently has put you off your usual favourite of <a href="http://www.schwartz.co.uk/productdetail.cfm?ID=5027">spaghetti bolognese</a>, you&#8217;re worried about your cholesterol, or just trying to lose weight, you can’t go wrong with chicken.</p>
<p>If you’re looking for a simple roast to replace the less healthy roast beef and Yorkshire puds, make sure you buy the most expensive chicken you can afford. Battery farmed chickens don’t just have a miserable life, they just don’t have the same flavour as a free range bird. It is far better to buy a smaller organic chicken than a large battery one. Just eke it out with more vegetables. Don’t forget to discard the skin as this is where the fat is stored. </p>
<p>If you find chicken too bland for your taste buds (and you shouldn’t if you buy a good one) then why not use some skinned chicken breasts in a stir fry or use it in a curry? Just make sure that you don’t opt for a creamy curry or else all your good intentions will go out of the window. Go easy on the rice and naan bread too if you are watching your waistline.</p>
<p>If you are having a barbecue, forget about the sausages and burgers and concentrate on the chicken. There are lots of delicious marinades available in the shops or alternatively it is easy to make your own with the sorts of things that most of us have in our cupboards.  </p>
<p>Chicken salad may sound a little dull but if you mix some cooked, chopped chicken with low fat or virtually fat free mayonnaise, some dried or fresh tarragon, salt and pepper, and chopped spring onions you will be surprised at how tasty it is. <p>While steaming hot plates of <a href="http://www.schwartz.co.uk/search.cfm?g_91=1&#038;searchtype=recipe">pasta recipes</a> piled with creamy, cheesy sauces can admittedly represent a fast track route to cellulite-laden thighs and unwanted love handles, there are healthy options that will allow you to indulge in a pasta dish without the associated element of guilt, even if you&#8217;re on a strict diet. </p>
<p>Perhaps the most important rule to follow in this respect is to avoid shop-bought pasta sauces. It&#8217;s incredibly quick and easy to make your own pasta sauce at home, with fresh ingredients and without the additives and artificial flavourings that often come with jars from the supermarket. </p>
<p>A simple tomato sauce can make for one of the tastiest and healthiest meals when combined with around 100g of penne. Simply fry some chopped onion and garlic using a spray oil (you can buy spray oils that contain just three calories per spray in most major supermarkets or health stores), add a can of chopped tomatoes (or, better still, buy a load of over-ripe tomatoes from your local market and whizz them up in the food processor before adding to the pan), season with salt and pepper, and leave to simmer for 25 minutes. </p>
<p>Chuck a little chopped parsley into the sauce five minutes before serving and combine the sauce with your cooked penne. If you want to add a little something special to your dish, throw in four or five black olives. Make sure you cook the pasta in the sauce for a minute or two over a low heat, in order to allow the pasta to absorb the flavours of your sauce. </p>
<p>Avoid the temptation of parmesan cheese when serving and indulge instead in a simple side salad of cucumber, lettuce, and tomato. There you have it; a simple healthy meal perfect for a weekday evening when you&#8217;re in a hurry.</p>

Well, I guess you’ve heard already that consuming chocolate can help ward off the grim reaper if one has suffered acute myocardial infarction &#8212; otherwise known as a heart attack. &#8220;It was specific to chocolate &#8212; we found no benefit to sweets in general,&#8221; said Kenneth Mukamal, a researcher at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and a co-author of the study. </p>

<p>&#8220;It seems that antioxidants in cocoa are a likely candidate&#8221; for explaining the live-saving properties, he added. &#8220;Our findings support increasing evidence that chocolate is a rich source of beneficial bioactive compounds,&#8221; the researchers concluded.</p>
<p>It’s interesting that research’s results held true for men and women, and across all the age groups included in the study.</p>
<p>So here is great recipe for easy prepared but really tasty (I&#8217;ve tried!) Chocolade Cake<br />
The batter is mixed entirely in one sauce pan. This recipe makes enough for one 9&#215;15 pan or 2 8&#215;8 pans.</p>
<p>Melt in sauce pan on low heat, stirring continuously:</p>
<p>          4 tbsp butter<br />
          4 oz unsweetened chocolate<br />
    Add on burner:</p>
<p>          1 cup milk<br />
    Maintain low heat, stir until it thickens a bit.</p>
<p>Take off burner. Add in order:</p>
<p>          2 cups sugar<br />
          1 tbsp vanilla<br />
          2 egg yolks<br />
    Stir, then add:</p>
<p>          2 cups flour<br />
          1/2 tsp salt<br />
          2 tsp baking soda<br />
    When mixed, add</p>
<p>          1 cup milk<br />
    Bake at 350 degrees F for about 25 minutes (until a wooden toothpick, inserted into the center of the cake, comes out relatively clean).</p>
<p>Icing<br />
it&#8217;s better to make this cake as  a two-layer cake with a sour cream icing in the middle, and whipped cream on the outside. This is a good combination, as the whipped cream isn&#8217;t too heavy.</p>
<p>The sour cream icing can be made melting 6 oz of semisweet chocolate. After it is melted, stir in 1/2 cup of sour cream.</p>
<p>Any sculpting should be done after cake is layered, but before the outer icing is applied. Whipped cream can very easily be colored using food coloring, allowing one to decorate colorful cake sculptures </p>

All those who diagnosed for type 2 diabetes  have a risk to get hurt eyes, kidneys, nerves or heart provoked by high blood glucose levels. But if you are increased risk of diabetes, for example, if you&#8217;re overweight or have a family history of the disease there are diabetes prevention that will never too late to start. First of all it&#8217;s not bad getting more physical activity to lose weight trying to keep your blood sugar within a normal range.</p>

If you&#8217;re older than age 45 and at a normal weight, ask your doctor about earlier testing. Also ask your doctor about testing if you&#8217;re younger than age 45 and overweight with one or more additional risk factors for type 2 diabetes.</p>
<p>Living with diabetes can be a challenge, but the tasty recipe can make it some easier.</p>
<p>Roasted Broccolini with Balsamic Vinegar</p>
<p>2 bunches (about 8 ounces each) broccolini<br />
1 tablespoon olive oil<br />
kosher salt to taste<br />
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar</p>
<p>1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.<br />
2. Trim the stem ends of the broccolini and spread the spears on a baking sheet. Brush them with olive oil (especially the flowering part) and sprinkle with salt.<br />
3. Roast the broccolini on the top rack of the oven until the stems become tender when pierced with a knife, about 10 minutes.<br />
4. Toss the broccolini with the balsamic vinegar and serve.<br />
Serving Size: about 2 spears<br />
